Hampshire County Council has reached phase 2 of its work on a Movement Strategy for Winchester and has published an “Emerging strategy document” for consultation.
You can download the movement strategy document here. We urge you all to read the document and make your own responses by the closing date of 13 January 2019. To help you respond, Cycle Winchester has produced a simple two-page guide, highlighting our views on the strategy. Please feel free to use our guide to help with your response, while of course adding your own views on the key issues and priorities that matter to you.
The movement strategy has some really encouraging signs: two priorities are to Reduce City Centre Traffic and to Support Healthier Lifestyle Choices. We’re right behind those priorities!
But we do have concerns, particularly about the timetable for bringing in specific improvements for cycling, and Cycle Winchester is studying this in more detail.
