Making it easier and safer to travel around Badger Farm and Oliver’s Battery
Hampshire County Council has launched a survey to gather feedback on plans to make it easier and safer for people to walk, wheel, cycle and travel by bus.
The feedback survey opened on 1 September 2026 and closes at 11:59pm on 11 October 2026.
Hampshire is holding a drop-in public information event on Wednesday 23 September 2026, between 2.45pm and 7.30pm at St Mark’s Church, Oliver’s Battery Road South, Winchester, SO22 4EZ. It’s an opportunity to view the proposals, speak with the project team and ask any questions you may have.
The potential improvements include;
New Crossing
A new crossing at road level will make it easier and safer for everyone to cross Badger Farm Road, whether you are walking, cycling, using a wheelchair, or pushing a pram.
Better Cycle Routes
A new north-south cycle route across Badger Farm Road will connect communities on both sides of the road and link to key places to the local schools, shops, and the city centre.
Keep the Subway
The existing subway is intended to stay in place, giving people who are able to use the subway steps another option for crossing the road.
Safer Junctions
To improve the road junctions to make them safer for everyone – whether you’re walking, cycling, wheeling, driving, or using public transport.
Bus Priority
Changes at the junction and a new northbound bus lane from the Sainsbury’s roundabout will help buses move more smoothly and stay on time.
Cycle Links to Winchester City Centre
Better cycle connections onward into Winchester and link them to existing quiet routes.
