Cycle Winchester’s fourth annual cycle count has shown the number of people cycling in the city has remained static since 2022. We explore why there is no growth in Winchester while other cities have seen significant increases.

We now have five “buses” in Winchester and more on the way. Cycle Winchester experienced the vibrancy of the Bike Bus movement earlier in the year when we attended the Global Bike Bus Summit expertly hosted by Bike Worcester.
There was a welcome reduction last year in thefts from both Winchester city and the railway station (British Transport Police) following the drop the previous year. But thefts remain a big problem; earlier this month we heard of the theft of a brand new electric foldable bike from the supposedly secure compound at the station.
Announcing an open meeting where we will look at how we might encourage new, nervous, reluctant, and inexperienced cyclists to (get?) get on a bike – without having to wait for Mass Ride No. 9!
