Mass Ride 4: Guidance to Riders

Cycle Winchester Mass Ride #3, April 2019

Hopefully you are excited as we are at taking over the streets of Winchester again for a short while to demonstrate the diversity and size of our cycling community and the pleasure of cycling when cycles are in the majority on the streets.

It’s not too late to get friends, neighbours and other family members to join in.

It’s a shame the England rugby was cancelled but there goes that last excuse!

Except the weather of course, which will probably not be on our side – but if so, let’s make a point of showing that cycling is not just for sunny days! In the unlikely event that the weather is a threat to rider safety (e.g. floods or severe weather warning), we will announce the cancellation of the ride on this website by 08:00 tomorrow.

We are posting a document on the website with guidance for riders.

And finally, two new features for the post-ride gathering in Abbey Gardens.

We are pleased to announce that Councillor Lynda Murphy, Winchester City Council cabinet member for environment and transport, has agreed to attend and to brief us on latest status of the Winchester Movement Strategy.

We will be launching our Cycle Winchester engagement survey on the day, giving you the chance to have your say on priorities for making Winchester better by bike. Look out for the survey web address posted on the gazebo on Abbey Gardens.

See you there!
