Hot on the heels of the successful St Bede Primary bike bus, and the Twyford and Colden Common bike bus for secondary schools, Winchester has another! Oliver’s Battery parents, Anne Forder and David McChesney have launched a bus for kids at the Oliver’s Battery Primary school. The first event was on Friday 15th March and it will run on successive Fridays, with plans to grow participation after the Easter break.
The route is mainly off-road on safe paths, with experienced riding marshals protecting the young riders in a few places where there is potential exposure to motor traffic. Young legs made light work of a couple of daunting hilly sections, and all enjoyed the ride. The ride even picked up an impromptu participant, a young man scooting along on a balance bike!

Cycle Winchester has been supported by a town forum grant from Winchester City Council to facilitate school bike buses.
