When we launched Not The Mass Ride, as a socially-distanced alternative to our hugely popular mass rides, we had no idea whether anyone would feel motivated to join in. We said we would create a combined visual record to show the breadth of cycling activity in our City and to put faces to the people needing safer streets, not knowing how many that would be. Today we reveal that visual record, and it’s quite overwhelming. Thanks once again to all of you who visited King Alfred Statue and sent in your selfies. We know that at least 82 people did so, possibly more in the non-public timelines of Facebook. Please enjoy NTMR, the video collage. This gives us a strong mandate to push for more cycling provision, as HCC roll out changes that are less than we may have hoped, at least so far.
Donate to Cycle Winchester
Cycle Winchester is a local community action group, campaigning to make Winchester (UK) better by bike.
Our aim is to create a better Winchester by promoting cycling as a convenient, healthy and inexpensive way to get around the city, as well as campaign for improved provision for cyclists. In so doing, we also hope to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in order to make Winchester a more enjoyable place to live, work and visit.
Through a range of cycling events and other initiatives, we hope to highlight the many benefits of cycling and encourage more people to get on their bikes and join us in our campaign to make Winchester better by bike.
